Ruhaan Alva, after dominating the Junior Class in 2020 upgraded himself to the Senior Class looking for better competition but struggled with the balance of the kart in Race 1 and could finish only third. But the talented 15-year-old, starting P4 on the reverse grid ahead of Rishon and Ameya Bafna, made amends and won Race 2. Behind Ruhaan, Rishon finished second again bagging valuable points and Ameya had to settle for third on the podium.
Ameya came back winning Race 3 but suffered issues with the silencer and could finish only 8th in Race 4. Ruhaan, who kept himself with a striking chance taking second place in Race 3, won the last race with ease taking a six-second lead over Rishon and set a blistering lap of 56.360 on the way. Bakhru, Samervel win Ajmera IndiKarting Clash of Pros
Mumbai, 7 Feb 2021: Mumbai teenagers Raaj Bakhru and Raiden Samervel won the Ajmera IndiKarting Clash of Pros racing event here in Wadala, Mumbai on Sunday.
Bakhru won 2 races and was second in one race to win the Pro Senior, while Samervel won all three races to win the Pro Junior.
Some of India’s best talent from around the country participated in the 2 day FMSCI sanctioned event, inspite of numerous Covid related protocols in place. More than expected entries in the Pro senior meant that the seniors would be split into groups and would therefore get 4 races each, with 6 races in total.
Bakhru qualified on pole in the Pro Senior with a laptime of 27.491, a mere tenth of a second ahead of Rahul Deshpande and Ojas Surve. Samervel bagged pole in the Pro Junior ahead of Veer Sheth and Nirvaan Chandna.
Race 1 saw Bakhru stamp his authority to win from pole ahead of Deshpande and Neville Tata who climbed up from seventh on the grid. Deshpande won race 2, while Bakhru won race 3. Surve and Aditya Patnaik, were second and third in race 2 and 3. Former National Karting Champion and JK Formula 1300 Champion – Aaroh Ravindra started last and showed his class to win race 4 ahead of Bakhru and Ishaan Barde who completed the podium.
Barde won race 5 after an intense battle with Ravindra. Surve followed in third. Race 6 was won by Aditya Pandit ahead of Patnaik, while Paarth Damani drove well to make it on the podium for the final race.
Samervel dominated the Pro Junior. He started from Pole in Race 1 and won ahead of Sheth and Chandna. Race 2 grid which was based on Race 1 results reversed, saw Samervel start from eighth and carve his way through the field to eventually win the race. Hoshmand Elavia and Chandna were second and third respectively. Samervel started from pole in race 3 and won ahead of Sheth and Elavia.
The overall Pro Senior was won by Raaj Bakhru on 21 points, ahead of Aaroh Ravindra by a mere half point. Aditya Patnaik’s consistency took him to third with 18 points. Raiden Samervel on 30 points dominated the Pro Junior ahead of Elavia and Sheth on 18 and 16 points respectively.
“We are very happy to see motorsport pick up again. Young racers travelled from Delhi, Hyderabad and other places around India for the race. Some of them will be traveling abroad to race as well and we wish them the very best” said 8 time National Champion and promoter of IndiKarting, Rayomand Banajee.

Jehan Daruvala creates history with Asian F3 win for Mumbai Falcons; Kush 12th
Abu Dhabi, 4 Feb 2021: India’s top racer Jehan Daruvala created history in the Formula 3 Asian Championship, scoring a victory for Mumbai Falcons, all Indian-outfit, here on Thursday evening.
He started on pole and led every lap to comfortably win Race 1 of Round 2 in the continent’s premier championship.
In the first Qualifying session, earlier in the day, Jehan was the only racer on the grid to dip below the 1 min 52 second mark to grab the Pole position ahead of Isack Hadjar from France, who clocked 1:53.051. Chinese racer Guanyu Zhou and championship leader was a close third, posting a lap-time of 1:53.070.
The Mumbai Falcons racer had a good start from pole but Hadjar managed to pull alongside Jehan before braking into Corner 1. Jehan outbraked Hadjar and held his lead exiting the corner. Jehan made no mistakes with a series of consistent laps, preventing any overtaking attempts on him. He soon opened up a lead of 1 second.
Right behind Jehan there was plenty of action. Zhou was on a charge and overtook Hadjar. He soon posted a couple of fast laps and reduced the gap to Jehan to under 0.7 seconds. Soon Jehan was under pressure and the two battled it out for a couple of laps. It was then Jehan’s turn to reel out a series of quick laps and he sped away to consistently lap quicker than the cars behind. Jehan managed to open a gap of over 3 seconds at one point before backing off, to cool his tyres.
On the penultimate lap, Jehan once again gave it everything, and posted the fastest laptime of the race which gives him pole position for race 2 tomorrow. The Indian comfortably crossed the finish line to win Mumbai Falcons their first International victory and the first for an Indian Team in the Asian Formula 3 Championship.
“Qualifying well was crucial. I am happy that I could control the pace from the start. It was important that I get the fastest lap because it puts me on pole for race 2. I want to thank the entire team at Mumbai Falcons for the effort put in.” said an elated Jehan
“We are proud to be the first Indian Team to have won in the Asian F3 Championship. The sleepless nights have finally paid off. We hope to continue the strong showing and have both our cars on top soon.” said Moid Tungekar, CEO of Mumbai Falcons.
Kush Maini meanwhile has endured a tough weekend. He qualified fifteenth but had a good start to quickly make up positions to eventually finish twelfth.
Race 2 and Race 3 will be conducted tomorrow on the same corkscrew layout of the Yas Marina International Circuit in Abu Dhabi. The 4.730 km version of the F1 circuit has produced more overtaking opportunities than the previous rounds. Indian fans can watch the races live on the Mumbai Falcons Racing Limited YouTube Channel.

Maini brothers dominate; Rishon Rajeev, Rohaan Madesh share honours; Ishaan in line to retain title
Bengaluru, 9 Jan 2021: Now under the tutelage of Narain Karthikeyan, Maini brothers dominated the show and hogged the limelight in the Senior Class, once again for the third week running but it was Birel Art’s Rishon Rajeev, who put in another stellar performance taking a gold in the final race of the Junior Class while the pre-finals were dominated Madesh brothers of Peregrine Racing. Rohaan in Junior class and Ishaan in Micro Max class, excelled clinching a gold each in the fifth and penultimate round of the Rotax Max National Karting Championship here at Meco Kartopia, near Bagalur, on Saturday.
Kush Maini, the runner-up in the British F3 Championship, beat Arjun Maini, an F2 driver and Haas Formula 1 development driver for two seasons, before he switched to European Le Mans. However, much cannot be read into his under-performance as this is just karting to prepare for the new initiative that is being launched by Narain Karthikeyan, the pioneer and first Formula 1 driver from India. Arjun Maini is leading the championship as NK Racing Academy team with 342 over Suriya Varathan of MSport (323), as Kush Maini missed a race due to the death of his grandfather in Round 2. Arjun promptly dedicated his win to the man who was close to his heart and who moulded his character. Sohil Shah replaced Kush, for that race as a reserve driver of the team.

Rishov Ranjan, leads the Junior championship by 19 points after Round 5 Reigning champion in his class, now in Senior class, Shahan Ali Mohsin completed the podium in both the pre-final and the final. Rubbing shoulders with the country’s top-3 current single-seater star drivers is a boon to the talented MSport karter, who dominated the karting scene in junior classes.
Rohaan Madesh was brilliant in the win today as he showcased his driving skills and exhibited his talent to win one race. But he needs to be consistent to win races regularly in tune with his talent. Rohaan found his wonted form, and won the Pre-final race while Rishon Rajeev displaced him to take the victory in the Final race of Round 5. Rishon is leading the championship by 19 points. He took two wins, two poles and two fastest laps in the five rounds and also suffered engine issues in Round 3. Meanwhile, Ruhaan Alva, who swept everything in the X30 Nationals, but for one race, seems to have been bogged down by issues with the kart and began the Rotax season on a back-foot. But despite the setback, he logged a second place in both the pre-final and Final.

Ishaan Madesh, championiship leader in the Micro Max category. It is another well-known pair of siblings in the karting circles for the past few seasons and that’s Madesh brothers. It is the bubbly Ishaan Madesh, a happy-go-lucky karter, the junior of the two, who catches the eye every time he is on the track. The defending champion’s prime reason for karting is to enjoy, track time or not. Even after the race, he will take his skateboard and play on the track, given a chance. But once he sits in the kart, he is no mean joke. His focus, his skills and importantly his consistent performance are noteworthy. However, he has easily dealt with the competition in his class, and if his energies are channelised properly, and talent and skills fine-tuned, he has the ability to go places, provided he manages to keep the distractions out, which usually creep in as kids grow up. Watch-out for him, especially, as and when he moves to the Junior class. Ishaan of Pregrine Racing with 356 points is leading the championship over Aditya Suresh Kamath of Birel Art (330) and Arafath Sheikh of MSport too has an outside chance, mathematically, to still go for the 2020 title with 329 points in his bag. Sunday’s two races will make the champ!

Rohan Madesh takes the flag in the pre-finals and needs to score 20 points more than Rishon Rajeev in the two races on Sunday offering 34 (pre final) and 55 (final) points. @twitter fmsci Rohan Madesh, the elder brother, is much more mature and his driving and times are improving with each year. He has the pace but needs to stay focussed and get consistent results as the Junior class throws many challenges.
Rishon Magehalli Rajeev of Birel Art managed a fourth place in the other race taking in some valuable points while Rohan Madesh could not make it to the top-six in the race which was by Rishon, thus trailing him in championship points. The final round on Sunday will be crucial for both.
Akshat Misra of MSport took a third place in the Junior category while in the pre-finals, while it is Jaden Rahman Pariat completed the podium in the Final and Akshat could only finish sixth.

Ruhaan clinches National championship in Junior Class; Ishaan, Suriya consolidate lead
By David Bodapati
Bengaluru, 1 Nov 2020: Defending champion Ruhaan Alva of MSport clinched the National Championship in the Junior Class with a round to spare in the Meco Motorsports fmsci National Karting Championship X30 Class at the 1.240-km Meco Kartopia track near Bagalur on Sunday.
The 14-year-old Bengaluru speedster knocked off two more victories on Sunday to complete a clean sweep of Round 4 too but saw stewards strip his Race 2 win following a protest. Thus, he won 14 of the 16 races in the first four rounds. With four more races remaining in the final round to be held in November, Ruhaan has pooled an unassailable 150 points over second-placed Rohaan Madesh, who garnered 109 points thus far. The final results after stewards clearance saw Ruhaan lose three points as he was demoted to second and Rohaan Madesh was promoted to a win, but still, Ruhaan managed to retain the Championship title. Akshat Mishra, also of Bangalore, is in third place on the leader board after four rounds with 71 points ahead of Guwahati lad Jaden Rahman Pariat on 61.
Meanwhile, it was a contrasting style in the Cadet Section, where championship leader Ishaan Madesh had to fight for his points with Pune youngster Sai Shiva Makesh, who offered a tough fight before ending up second, in both the races today. Ishaan, who took 3 wins from four races, bagged 140 points to Sai Shiva’s 112. With yesterday’s win in the first race of Round 4, Sai managed to take the title battle till the last round. Both the races saw a close finish today with Ishaan defending well and winning the first race by just 0.162 seconds and in the final race, Sai did manage to take the `fastest lap’ but ended up second trailing by just 0.2sec. Anshul Sai, who completed the podium in both the races today, is a distant third in the championship table with 98 points after four rounds.

Bala Prasath who was off-colour today and could only get a third place in the last race. Bala is in the third spot on the points table in Senior class with 87 points.

Ruhaan Alva, Ishaan Madesh, Suriya Varathan extend lead at the top: X30 Karting Nationals
By David Bodapati
Bengaluru, 31 October 2020: Fourteen-year-old Bengaluru talent Ruhaan Alva of MSport continued to hog the limelight dominating the proceedings and left the field to fight behind him in the Junior section as he won all the four races with `Fastest Laps’ to boot, in the Meco Motorsports fmsci National Karting Championship X30 class at the 1.240-km Meco Kartopia Circuit near Bagalur on Saturday.
Cadet karter, Ishaan Madesh, the reigning champion in Cadet Section, excelled once again with three wins but received a jolt in the first race of Round 4, where Sai Shiva Makesh of Pune, spoiled his party, taking a convincing win.
Senior Class table leader, Suriya Varathan, a 12th class student of Vivekalaya Prakriya in Coimbatore, bagged 30 points including for two victories, in the four races held today, to extend his lead to 117 points over defending champ Nirmal Umashankar (94) but it was Bengaluru’s Junior Rishon Rajeev, who shifted his performance a notch up, with a double whammy, winning both the races held on Saturday afternoon in Round 4. Suriya, the MSport racer, who also took part in the Asian X30 races before the pandemic stopped it, is coached by former National Champion Vishnu Prasad.

Ruhaan Alva (Kart No.16) makes the overtake stick, the second time around, after C3, with five laps to go in the last race of the day, a reverse grid start in Round 4 on Saturday.
Junior Class leader and defending champion Ruhaan Alva pumps his fist more in relief after winning from P6 on reverse grid in the last race on Saturday. Photo by David Bodapati In the Junior Section, Ruhaan started P6 in the tricky Race 2 of Round 4, which saw a Reverse Grid for the first six finishers of Race 1. It is the fourth and last race of the day, and Ruhaan bid his time, and with five laps to go, he adeptly overtook his only challenger and compatriot Rohaan Madesh after C2, but Rohaan took back the lead immediately. However, Ruhaan wasted no time and made the move stick after C3, and never looked back winning by over 30-metres at the flag with Mumbai’s Shaurya Kapani taking the final place on the podium.
Earlier in the morning, Ruhaan Alva won both the races of Round 3 with ease. But after taking one more second place in the first race of the day behind Ruhaan, Rohaan Madesh dropped points as he could finish only 8th among 9 racers with Rishon Rajeev, who came 3rd in the first race, taking the second place on the podium followed by Abhay Kumar, also of Bengaluru in Race 4. Another Bengaluru racer, Akshat Mishra completed the podium in the first race of Round 4, behind the two leaders, and Shaurya Kapani of Mumbai replaced him on the podium in the next race. Ruhaan leads the table with 133 points followed by Rohaan Madesh (92) in second and Guwahati racer Jaden Rahman Pariat, who had an off-day today, is third with 56 points, at the end of Saturday.

Suriya Varathan of Coimbatore (above) extends his lead in the Senior Class over MSport teammates Nirmal Shankar and Balaprasath on Saturday. In the Cadet Section, defending champion Ishaan Madesh, the 11-year old Vidya Shilp student of Class 6, won both the races in the morning with relative ease making a clean sweep of Round 3, to earn 20 points to the 20 he earned on Friday, but faltered on Saturday afternoon, with a determined Sai Shiva Makesh of Bishop School, Pune taking a well-deserved win in the first race of Round 4. Nikhilesh Raju of Bengaluru came third.

Ishaan Madesh, indicates number 1 spot on the points table in Cadet class after the end of Round 3 on Saturday. In the last race, Sai Shiva, who made his debut only last year finishing overall third in the Cadet championship, posted another podium with Ishaan taking the win, and kept himself at a striking distance, in the title battle, with two more races tomorrow and the final Round of four races, remaining in November. Ishaan bags a double; Ruhaan leads despite a minor hiccup
By David Bodapati
Bengaluru, 30 October 2020: Reigning champion Ruhaan Alva of Bengaluru, continued his winning streak in Race 1 for a stunning ninth consecutive race and marched towards retaining his National Champion tag despite a reverse-grid hiccup in the second race, in the third round of the Meco Motorsports fmsci National Karting Championship X-30 races at Meco Kartopia here on Friday.
Another fun-loving Bangalore kid, Ishaan Madesh had the best outing today clinching a double in the Cadet section to keep his championship lead with 83 points to Sai Shiva’s 67. Eleven-year-old Ishaan was streets ahead as he left the field behind and won with a huge margin of over 13-seconds in Race 1 and went on clinch Race 2, too. Anshul Sai of Pune came second in Race 1 followed by Pune’s Sai Shiva Makesh, who took second in Race 2 ahead of Arafath Sheikh, also of Pune. Ishaan who had a DNF in the previous round did make amends and won both the races.
After topping the official practice session, in Race 1, Ruhaan brushed aside the challenge of Rohaan Madesh beating him by a convincing 3.2-second margin to take another first. Rishon Rajeev completed the podium, a fraction of a second behind, to make it an all-Bengaluru podium.
In Race 2, Ruhaan was well on course to clinch the issue but his streak of victories was broken in Race 2 due to an unforeseen incident. After the reverse-grid start, he patiently overtook one by one and got to the top and everything looked rosy as he took the lead. But in the last lap, the driver in 2nd place, tried an overambitious move into the fourth corner (C4) and locked-up, and smashed sideways straight into Ruhaan, taking both out in the process. Ruhaan, later managed to finish 6th and retrieved 3 useful points to still lead the Championship by 23 points. Ruhaan has 93 to Rohaan’s 70. But for the incident, he still showed his talent and kart control and driving skills to bag the `Fastest Laps’ in all the 10 races, till now in Rounds 1, 2 and 3. Six more Races, two in Round 3 and four in Round 4, will decide the title this weekend.
In the Senior Section, strong contender Suriya Varathan and defending champion Nirmal Umashankar split the two races. Suriya won the first race beating Nirmal Umashankar, who took a comfortable win in Race 2. Raaj Bakhru came third ahead of Shravanthika Lakshmi S of Coimbatore, who came fourth beating three more boys. Bala Prasath finished the podium in Race 2. Arjun Nair, who was second in the title race after two rounds, did not take part today.
Raaj Bakhru winning the third place in the Senior Class Race 1 has some significance. The 12th class student of Business Management from Mumbai is making his debut in National karting and taking a podium in the first race, and driving a kart only for the third time, is some achievement.
