Santosh in creditable 20th after 331km of Stage 1; Aravind 71st: Dakar Rally

Photo by Antonin Vincent Lima, 7 Jan 2019: Michael Metge of Sherco TVS Rally team is placed in 12th while Oriol Mena of Hero Motosports Team Rally is in 14th place at the end of Stage 1 after covering a distance of 331km in the Moto section of the Dakar Rally 2019 which began in Peru on Sunday.
Santosh CS, is standing a creditable 20th after the first leg, and is doing better than his Hero Motosports teammate Joaquim Rodriques who is three places behind him in 23rd place after the first leg.
Right behind him in 24th and 25th places are the other Indian team members of Sherco TVS Rally Factory team. Adrien Metge is in 24th place while Lorenzo Santolino is in 25th place. The second Indian in the field, Aravind KP, also of Sherco TVS Rally team is going steady in 71st place with the sole aim of finishing the Dakar in his third attempt.
Santosh took a time of 1 hours 6 minutes and 49 seconds, a difference of 9:13 minutes to the first to cover the 331-km first stage while Aravind took 1hr 24.23 to be classified in 71st place out of a total of 135 participants who were classified after Stage 1.
Meanwhile, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing have completed a successful stage one of the 2019 Dakar Rally with Sam Sunderland, Toby Price and Matthias Walkner all finishing well inside the top 10. Luciano Benavides put in a solid performance to claim the 15th fastest time of the day with KTM Factory Racing’s Laia Sanz and Mario Patrao placing 31st and 36th respectively.Provisional results after Stage 1: Joan Barreda Bort, Monster Energy Honda Team 2019, 57 minutes, 36 seconds; 2. Abdul Tanveer, Harith Noah to join Sherco TVS Team for Morocco Rally
Morocco, 29 Sept. 2018: Successful Indian riders Abdul Wahid Tanveer and Harith Noah will join the four-rider Sherco TVS Factory Rally Team for the Rally of Morocco 2018, the final round of FIM Cross Country Rallies World Championship, to be held here from October 3 to 9.

B Selvaraj, TVS Racing team manager said: “We are delighted to launch two Indian racers in to the International arena. Tanveer is in great form and has prior experience in the Sahara Desert. Harith is talented and all of us are eager to see him perform in his first International stint. Lorenzo also had good performances through the year and Adrien has recovered.” The rally covers 1937 kilometers, spread over 5 stages, in 6 days.
Tanveer said: “This is my first time in the Rally of Morocco and I am excited to be a part of this Rally. I am confident after successfully completing the recent PanAfrica Rally and topping the Enduro class. I hope to better my performance and will give it my best shot.”
Noah said: “I am grateful to Sherco TVS Racing for placing faith in me and providing me with this huge opportunity to participate in my first International Rally. I have trained rigorously in France over the past month and look forward to do my best.”The Rally of Morocco 2018, which includes bikes, quads, trucks, cars and SSV categories, will traverse through the dunes and tricky trails of Moroccan desert across different stages and routes around Erfoud and Fez.

Aravind KP’s ankle injury halts his Dakar 2018

Arequipa, 11 January 2018: Aravind KP’s dream of finishing The Dakar Rally ended with an ankle injury in the fifth stage of the Dakar 2018 here on Thursday.
Talking to INDIAinF1.com, Aravind said that he is overwhelmed by the love and support shown by the fans in India. He said he though he was disappointed with his premature end to the second season’s campaign, he felt good and encouraged by the huge demonstration of support from India. “After yesterday’s crash, I am feeling better now after getting medical attention. I would like to thank all my fans and well-wishers for their love and support all through Dakar. The doctors in Lima have informed me that I will require surgery once back in India…,” qupped the only rider among the two Indians who have ever competed in the Dakar Rally along with Santosh CS of Hero MotoSports. The Sherco TVS Factory Rally team traversed across a challenging trail between San Juan De Marcona and the city of Arequipa in Peru with lead rider Joan Pedrero taking a solid 18th position. The sixth stage of Dakar 2018, will witness extreme climatic conditions as the riders move from the confines of the deserts of Peru to the pristine landscape of Bolivia. The riders expected to go past the shorelines of salt-water lakes before taking on the Bolivian Altiplano where mountain ranges cover altitudes of over 2500 kms.

Aravind KP part of Sherco TVS team for Dakar 2018
Bangalore, 31 October 2017: Top Indian rider Aravind KP is nominated along with two others for the Sherco TVS Factory Rally Team for the daunting Dakar Rally. Joan Pedrero from Spain will be leading the squad which also has Adrien Metge from France . The Sherco TVS Factory Rally Team has been performing strongly in all the international rallies and is aiming for a top-10 finish at Dakar 2018.
Dakar 2018 is the 40th edition of the annual International Rally-Raid, and Sherco TVS Factory Rally Team will be participating in the event for the fourth consecutive year. The Rally will be held from January 6, to January 20, 2018. This year, the Rally will cover three countries, beginning in Lima, Peru, and passing through La Paz, Bolivia, before finally culminating in Córdoba, Argentina, after having traversed a total distance of over 9000 km.
This will be the second time that Aravind KP will participate in Dakar Rally. Joan Pedrero will be participating at Dakar Rally for the tenth consecutive time and this will be the 3rdDakar Rally for Adrien Metge.
