The 31-year old, Deodhar, in a #56 Ford Mustang, created history at the Saturday’s American SpeedFest 8 by taking a stunning victory in Race 1 of Round 3 as he became the first Indian pole sitter and race winner in the EuroNASCAR series.
The London-based Mumbaikar’s victory proved to be a historic one in many ways. His victory is not only a first for an Indian driver in the Euro Series but his win also stopped the 12-race win streak that Hendriks Motorsport in the EuroNASCAR 2 division which is the longest streak of the most consecutive wins for any team in Euro Series so far.
Race Report: Dauenhauer made a great start on the outside from second and got past poleman Deodhar at Paddock Hill Bend. The 23-year-old pulled away from his chasers and sped to victory after 30 laps under green. It was the first win of the season for the driver of the #50 Hendriks Motorsport Ford Mustang, who was handed the red Whelen banner for being the Championship leader.
Deodhar, who lost the lead at the start, put up a stubborn defence against DF1 Racing’s Simon Pilate. The Belgian started from third and tried several times to get past Deodhar for second and managed to overtake on lap 27 for his best EuroNASCAR 2 result so far. Deodhar, the first Indian to win a EuroNASCAR race had to settle in third after a solid performance at the wheel of his #56 CAAL Racing machine in the 30-lap race. The Indian living in London grabbed the maiden win of his NASCAR Whelen Euro Series career at the 1.94 kilometer Indy Circuit. Deodhar led all 30 laps and defended his lead against a charging Tobias Dauenhauer, who ended up second at the wheel of the #50 Hendriks Motorsport Ford Mustang, reported euronascar.com
Starting from the pole for his 21st EuroNASCAR 2 race which began on dry conditions, Deodhar successfully held on to the lead on the start and kept Dauenhauer at bay in the first few laps despite all the attempts the German made. The race was halted not too long after, however, as contact between Hollamby and Leevi Lintukanto sent the No. 23 Barot’s Camaro in the gravel trap at Paddock Hill, ending the Finn’s race early.
After a lengthy Safety Car period, the race was restarted with Deodhar successfully managing to keep the lead once again. Deodhar was pressured by Dauenhauer throughout the race, but the 31-year old Indian driver showcased his experience by putting a masterclass in a defensive race, keeping the German at bay and skillfully getting past the lapped cars on his way to score his first career victory in the EuroNASCAR 2 division, crossing the finish line 0.433 ahead of Dauenhauer.
“I will never forget this moment in my life”, said Deodhar, who posted the fastest lap and thus also secured pole for the race on Sunday. “I need to pinch myself because I cannot believe I have won. It was a tough race with Tobias at my back bumper during all laps of this round. Thanks to CAAL Racing for giving me an awesome car. It was only the second win of my life and it’s something very special to score one here at Brands Hatch.”
Starting from fifth place, Francesco Garisto was on a mission in EuroNASCAR 2 Round 3 at the wheel of the #17 42 Racing Shadow DNM8. The Italian overtook his fellow countryman Alberto Panebianco and settled down in third. He crossed the finish line on that position but was demoted back to seventh after a post-race penalty for an avoidable collision with Panebianco.
Simon Pilate inherited third place with a strong run after a safety car period that was triggered by Levi Lintukanto on lap 3. The Finn got stuck in the gravel of Paddock Hill Bent and the caution was necessary to clear the turn. Green flags waved again on lap 11 and Pilate powered his way up to fourth after passing his DF1 Racing teammate Justin Kunz and Not Only Motorsport’s Panebianco.
Deodhar gets maiden pole before the rain
Earlier, Advait Deodhar scored his first ever NASCAR Whelen Euro Series Pole Position at Brands Hatch on Saturday. The Indian, who’s living in London, clocked a 49.918-lap and beat Tobias Dauenhauer by 0.192 seconds. Deodhar had some help from the skies as rain started to fall right around the half-time of the 30-minute session. NWES rookie Miguel Gomes spun with his slick tires and triggered a short red flag period.
As the session resumed, the track prevented teams and drivers from driving faster laps so a lot of V8 engines stayed quiet until the end. Only Michael Bleekemolen and Yevgen Sokolovskiy tried out their cars on wet tires. DF1 Racing’s Justin Kunz was third quickest ahead of the impressive EuroNASCAR 2 rookie Alberto Panebianco at the wheel of the #89 Not Only Motorsport Chevrolet Camaro. The Italian also topped the Rookie Trophy standings.

Alina Loibnegger beat Arianna Casoli in the battle for the best starting position in the Lady Trophy.
The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series will be back in action on Sunday for Rounds 4 of the 2021 season. The NASCAR GP UK will continue at 1:43 pm CET with the EuroNASCAR PRO race, while the EuroNASCAR 2 race will follow at 4:58 pm CET. Advait Deodhar manages P7 in Race 2 on Sunday: EuroNascar2
Valencia, 16 May 2021: Ace Indian driver Advait Deodhar, redeemed a forgettable round, with a well-earned P7 in the second race of the EuroNASCAR2 at the 4-km Circuit Ricardo Tormo on Sunday. Martin Doubek was unstoppable once again and he won the Race 2 too. The driver of the #7 Hendriks Motorsport Ford Mustang started from pole, led all 15 laps and scored his second consecutive win of the 2021 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season. The 26-year-old now leads the overall standings with 80 points on his account.
Advait Deodhar, of CAAL Racing, in a #56 Ford Mustang, had a bad first race on Saturday where he struggled due to problems with the set-up of his car and had a mechanical retirement before he was classified in P17. However, even as the problems continued, he managed to finish P7 in the Round 2, the second race on Sunday. “I’m really struggling with the car right now and can’t quite understand why. However, I’m sure we’ll find a solution by the next round in the Czech Republic,” said the TJB Super Yachts sponsored racer after the race. Advait timed 26:34.121 for the 15 laps of Race 2 on Sunday. “We will come back stronger for the next round,” promised Advait.
For Doubek it was the fourth EuroNASCAR 2 career win after the two he collected at Circuit Zolder in the 2020 NWES season and the one he grabbed on Saturday. The NWES veteran, who’s part of EuroNASCAR since the 2015 season, made a good start and pulled away from the field right in the first lap. After that he administered his advantage and Hoosier Racing Tires to be first under the checkered flag.
“I’m very happy”, said an exhausted Doubek after the race. “The car is perfect since we hit the track on Friday for Free Practice. With Loris Hezemans, I can rely on a very quick teammate and the team is doing an exceptional job. We found a good setup that made it look so easy to get two wins here in Valencia.”
Doubek’s teammate Tobias Dauenhauer from Germany ended up second after a fierce battle with Academy Motorsport / Alex Caffi Motorsport’s Vladimiros Tziortzis from Cyprus. The Hendriks Motorsport driver and 2019 EuroNASCAR 2 runner-up managed to keep the 24-year-old youngster at bay and when they crossed the checkered flag, 2.597 seconds separated the two. After bad luck hampered his Saturday’s race with a blown tire, Justin Kunz showed his potential by piloting the #22 DF1 Racing Camaro to fourth.
Double V Racing team boss and driver Pierluigi Veronesi had a solid run in his #27 Mustang: the Italian completed the top-5. After struggling with braking issues on Saturday, Simon Pilate also fought his way back into the top-10 with a solid sixth place. The Belgian completed the race ahead of Advait Deodhar. Deodhar made a mistake in the first race that shuffled him down the order, but he managed to strike back by finishing seventh.

Advait Deodhar qualifies P6 for EuroNascar2 Round 1
Valencia, 15 May 2021: Ace Indian racer Advait Deodhar of CAAL Racing team did a creditable job qualifying in P6 for the opening round of the EuroNascar 2 Qualifying which saw only a few thousands of a second decide the battle for the first Pole Award of the 2021 season here on Saturday. Doubek got the pole at the wheel of #7 Ford Mustang. The two-time 2020 race winner built on last season’s momentum and benefited from the right strategy call and a great Hendriks Motorsport car.
But the Indian was not happy as he wanted to be on pace with the toppers. “I am very unhappy with qualifying in P6 and well, I am off the pace of the leaders. We made a setup change from yesterday which send us backwards. I had enormous understeer, and a problem with braking which has also run the front right down to the carcass. But I am looking forward to the race,” said Advait Deodhar after the qualifying session. The Indian is sponsored by TJB Super Yachts.
Doubek meanwhile, got the pole. “I have a really good teammate and we found a really good setup”, said the Czech after winning the second Pole Award of his career. “I’m very happy to grab the first Pole Position right in the first Qualifying of the year. The track is really challenging and demanding, but we are confident that we can use the momentum for the upcoming race.”
But it was a close call: Academy Motorsport / Alex Caffi Motorsport’s Vladimiros Tziorztis was just 0.021 seconds slower than Doubek and his 1:42.339 lap. The Cypriot will start from the first row when the green flag flies for the first time in EuroNASCAR 2 on Saturday afternoon. 2019 EuroNASCAR 2 runner-up Tobias Dauenhauer ended up third, 0.565 seconds behind his teammate on pole.
Another promising talent, Francesco Garisto set the fourth fastest time in Qualifying. The 42 Racing driver clocked a 1:43.813 lap at Circuit Ricardo Tormo. With his new team Double V Racing, Pier Luigi Veronesi closed the top-5 after the 30-minute session, while CAAL Racing’s Advait Deodhar followed in sixth.
EuroNASCAR 2 returnee Justin Kunz was seventh ahead of his teammate Simon Pilate from Belgium. The fastest Legend Trophy driver was The Club Motorsport’s Fabrizio Armetta at the wheel of the #55 Chevrolet Camaro in ninth.

A fighting Advait Deodhar misses overall 3rd narrowly in the 2019 Euro Nascar Championship

Advait Deodhar fights in the rain in the last round at Zoldar and finishes 4th overall in the Euro NASCAR series. Photo for INDIAinF1 Zoldar, 8 Oct 2019: The London-based Indian racing driver Advait Deodhar started the weekend in contention for overall third place in the 2019 NASCAR Whelen Euro Championship Elite 2 class but missed out narrowly and had to settle for the overall fourth after a thrilling final race here in Belgium on Sunday, the 6th of October.
In Race 1, after some stellar performance, sitting in 3rd and fighting for a win, Advait lost out on the very last lap, 2 corners before the finish line. The last 300 meters of Race 1 impacted the outcome of P3 in the Championship as Advait was also given a 60-second time penalty.
Race 2 started under extremely wet conditions. After a good start and on the pace, the rain stopped and the extreme wet setup the team opted for, started working against the changing track conditions. With the car being a handful to drive, Advait brought home his Chevrolet SS in a lonely 6th place clocking 37:51.569.

Advait Deodhar poses with Gian Luca Guiglia, his CAAL Racing team manager. After the successful end of a long season where Advait had to struggle for every race looking for sponsors, he managed admirably to complete the season fighting for a top-three place despite missing a round. Looking back at the season, the racer who works as a Yacht broker to fund his racing activity, said: “It’s been a surreal journey and racing this year has happened against all odds. I have not been able to raise sponsorship but managed to race this year with no sponsorship by working extremely hard on my day job and risked it all to fund it through my earnings, and using up all credit and savings. I drove for three teams due to budget constraints, missed one round, lived in uncertainty and confirmed each round only a few days before each race weekend.”

Fans of Advait before the race. Advait drove against a very competitive grid and managed to somehow make it all work and the fact that he was fighting for overall third till the last corner is a great achievement when compared to the support and resources enjoyed by the other drivers. “A top-3 should have been possible under different circumstances but I’m very proud of the achievement this year,” he quipped.
“I think it’s about time I secure a sponsor and get some support from Indian companies as I race on the international stage,” said Advait even as he looks at 2020. “I want to come back to the Championship in 2020 with a full budget and race seat confirmed. I will fight for the title and accept nothing less,” he concluded with conviction. It is time Indian corporates and many sports-loving promoters look at this rare talent and support him in his journey. Last year Advait Deodhar won the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series in October.

INDIAinF1 Zolder (Belgium), 4 Oct 2019: Advait Deodhar is currently 4th overall, and just 2 points behind third-placed Vittorio Ghirelli the final round of the 2019 European NASCAR Championship begins in Zolder, Belgium. The first race is scheduled for 8.30 pm (IST) on Saturday.
The fight for P3 in the Championship is going to be intense, with five drivers from P3 to P7, separated by less than 30 points.

File photo of Advait Deodhar (left) Advait also has an outside chance to fight for the overall Championship as a maximum of 160 points are still on offer in the two races, but it is probably a difficult task for the Indian.
However, he is looking for a good performance in the final round and is raring to go to get the best out of the week-end for a top-3 finish.
In the earlier round in Hockenheim on Sept 23, Advait’s week-end did not go a planned. In Race 1, Advait bent his steering arm after an unavoidable crash in front of him as too was forced to collide with another two cars and ended up 10th. In Race 2, he bagan 10th but could onoy manage a P7.

Advait Deodhar still in contention for top-3 finish after Hockenheim round

Advait Deodhar, right, at Hockenheim ring on Sunday. An INDIAinF1 image Hockenheim, 23 Sept. 2019: Indian racing driver Advait Deodhar is still in contention for top-3 finish in the 2019 Euro Nascar Championship despite his race-weekend ending on unexpected lines here at the Hockenheim ring for the penultimate round on Sunday.
In Race 1, Advait bent his steering arm after an unavoidable crash in front of him as too was forced to collide with another two cars and ended up 10th. In Race 2, he bagan 10th but could onoy manage a P7.
In Race 1, after a fantastic start, Advait was caught in an accident at the exit of the first corner; with no way to avoid the crash that took place in front of him. Then, he collided with Vittorio Ghirelli’s and Andre Castro’s cars. It was a bit of bad luck, but then he was lucky enough to have been able to continue albeit with a bent steering arm. After dropping down to 22nd, the Indian managed to fight his way back up and finished a commendable 10th despite the bent steering arm.
Earlier, with a quick lap in the early bit of qualifying he made it into Superpole (top 12 shootout, similar to Q3 in F1) but beyond that he only managed to qualify 7th. After looking at the data, he is quite convinced that he could have put in a lap that was much better and possibly qualified in the top 4, but alas that did not happen.
In Race 2, starting 10th, Advait was focussed to finish in the top 5. “The car felt good in the warm up that morning and we definitely had the pace. However, 2 safety cars and an intense battle with Championship contender Nicholas Risitano kept me at a steady P7,” he quipped.
“It could have definitely been a better weekend, but I’m glad to have been able to limit the damage to my Championship standing and still be in contention for P3 in the season, with an outside chance for P1 or P2,” he concluded.
The final round in Zolder is October 6 and Advait is making all efforts to finish the 2019 European Nascar Championship in top-3.

Advait Deodhar gets podium at Brands Hatch, moves up to 3rd in Championship

Advait Deodhar who finished 3rd at Brands Hatch in Elite 2 on June 2. Photo by Team Deodhar Brands Hatch, 2 June 2019: Indian race driver Advait Deodhar notched up a creditable podium in Race 1 of the Elite 2 Division of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series in 2019 on Sunday.
The reigning Elite Club division champion, now competing in the higher Elite 2 Division, despite having to change three teams notched up his first podium in the third round here. He did get a rookie podium in Round 1 at Valencia and managed two top-10 finishes in the second round in Franciacorta. The Mumbai-based driver became the first Indian to win at Nascar last year when he won the Elite division championship in April 2018 when he won the final race held at the Circuit Zolder in Belgium.
In a close qualifying at Brands Hatch, Deodhar. made it into Super-pole (similar to Q3 in F1) for the first time for the top-12 shootout. Then he put in a lap that placed him 8th on the grid for Race 1.
“I was not entirely pleased with the lap as I believe I could have got a better exit out of the last corner but then again, we can do a lot of things better in hindsight,” he quipped after the qualification session.
In Race 1 over 30 laps, Deodhar started in Row 4 on the outside line. Euro NASCAR uses the rolling start procedure and the Indian missed gear shift at the start which dropped him down to 10th into the first corner. But he managed to gain a position back and then two more after a spin in front of him. A few laps later, another incident brought out the safety car, allowing the field to bunch up which gave him a renewed chance to fight at the front.
Deodhar then pushed hard and made his way up to 3rd, finishing just 0.7 seconds behind British driver, Scott Jeffs. He needed just one more lap to pass him as he had the pace but ran out of laps. However, due to another incident earlier in the race, Scott was given a time penalty, which promoted the Indian to second place.

Advait Deodhar on the podium at Brands Hatch. In Race 2, Deodhar started on P6. The series rules state that the best lap times from Race 1 dictate the starting order for Race 2. The Indian racer managed to put in the 6th fastest time in Race 1 where the top-8 were separated by a few tenths of a second.
The tyres he used were very worn out as he had to use them in Qualifying, Race 1 & Race 2. A clean battle for positions 2 to 6 in the first 18 odd laps allowed the leader to run away into the distance, with the next 5 including Deodhar fighting for positions. Then an incident brought about the safety car and the pack was bunched together for the last seven laps. Deodhar then got a fantastic start and managed to get up to 4th on the restart but a mistake on the next lap saw him drop down to 6th and he ended up finishing in the same spot.
The Elite 2 category podium helped Deodhar take the 3rd position overall in the Championship standings. “I’m proud of it. A lot of hard work and effort has gone into getting behind the wheel and I’m going to fight for this Championship,” he said after the races. The 29-year old is now having 172 points and with just 24 points behind the championship leader, he hopes to do well in the remaining four rounds.
